Dog Walking

Unlike the cats and small animals we care for, dogs need access to the great outdoors for their daily pees and poops. But dog walking is more than a chance to relieve themselves. Dogs explore and understand their world through smell. We ensure that we give your animals a chance to understand their surroundings, to sniff those all important pee spots to see who else has been around, to meet and greet other dogs while walking so they get their social interaction, and of course to get that all important exercise. If a run is desired, our walkers will run too!

Regular walks are important. Experts suggest at least 30 minutes per day, which is why our minimum visit time is exactly that, and you get exactly what you’ve paid for, a full half hour, rain or shine, snow or sun. Well-walked dogs who have a chance to socialize, play, run, and sniff are not only healthier dogs, but better behaved.

Dogs are hunters by nature. Many of the so called bad behaviors we may experience: chewing, barking, nipping or aggression towards other animals or visitors, are often due to lack of them being able to fully express their dog nature. We’ve noticed that visits from our experienced team can often mitigate, or even negate, some of these negative expressions.

Regular dog walking is also a chance for our walkers to identify any changes in body function or behavior that may signal the onset of sickness of disease. Changes in bathroom habits, frequency, appearance can be sign of gastro intestinal distress, stress, or need to adjust diet. Problems with gait could be an indicator of joint problems like arthritis or hip dysplasia. Lessening of energy or endurance may indicate cardiovascular or neural issues.

We keep an eye on your best friend and with regular reports alert you of any concerns which may not be evident when they’re relaxing fire-side, or snoozing by the squawk box (TV).
